Creamy Colombia Caffee Recipe

Despite the barrage of anti-aging products in the form of creams, pills and pricey procedures that promise to help you stay young forever, the most effective treatments don’t have to cost a thing. As these experts attest, the real keys to staying young are both inexpensive and easily accessible. Here are five things you can start doing today to stave off the appearance of aging.

Mimi Kirk, author of Live Raw, coming to stores in May, was recently voted PETA’s sexiest vegetarian over 50 — at 70 years old. How’d she get that honor? She recommends consuming raw foods whenever possible. The easiest way to up your raw intake is to blend organic fruits and vegetables together for a delicious, green juice you can drink daily.

Alina Zhukovskaya, nutrition designer and raw food chef, swears by the power of all foods green. The reason? Chlorophyll. Found in green, leafy vegetables and algae, it purifies the blood, body and skin, making it a critical component in reducing signs of aging. Chlorophyll-rich foods include kale, collard greens, celery, parsley, watercress and spinach.

For a brighter complexion, nourish your body with carotene. Rich sources include carrots and squash. Zhukovskaya also recommends regularly eating oranges, grapefruits, lemons, papayas and pineapples. Each contains enzymes that are vital in maintaining skin that is smooth, pliable and young-looking.

Joan Pagano, fitness expert and former trainer to Jacqueline Onassis and Caroline Kennedy, shares that “a 20-year-old woman who does not lift weights will lose about 6 pounds of muscle and gain five pounds of fat by age 50.” In her bestselling book, Strength Training for Women, she demonstrates a variety of strength training routines to help women stay young. Pagano swears by strength training because it restores muscle, giving both your strength and energy levels a boost. It reduces your risk of developing osteoporosis, heart disease and adult-onset diabetes, and it alleviates symptoms of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, as well as hypertension. If you’re hesitant to join a gym, start a simple strength training routine at home while watching TV with a pair of light free weights. Start out doing two full-body sessions twice a week on non-consecutive days. For suggested routines,

Dr. Barry Sears, a leading authority in anti-inflammatory nutrition and creator of The Zone Diet, maintains that “aging is ultimately due to increased inflammation at the cellular level.” To reduce the inflammation, there are some easy adjustments that you can make to your diet today, like removing vegetable oils rich in omega-6 fatty acids. A common component in the Western diet, you may not realize how many omega-6 fatty acids you consume. Typical sources include corn, safflower, cottonseed and soybean oils, which are often added into processed foods because they are a cheap form of calories. According to Sears, “these omega-6 fatty acids will generate inflammatory hormones (eicosanoids) that speed the aging process.” In addition to carefully reading ingredient labels, an easy way to eliminate the oils is to replace processed foods with raw, natural alternatives whenever possible.

Natural Way To Stay Forever Young

Movie stars get it done. Fashion models get it done. Television personalities get it done.

Many famous people turn to facelifts in order to appear younger. While it’s true that these options can tighten loose skin and reduce fine wrinkles, there are many detrimental side effects and risks associated with getting a facelift.

  • Pain– Lasting 2 weeks to 6 months
  • Numbness– For 6-8 months, and up to 18 month around stitch lines
  • Swelling – You may be unrecognizable for weeks
  • Bruising – Up to 8 weeks of looking battered
  • Surgery Risks – Including infection, adverse reaction to the anesthesia, failure to properly heal, or a doctor who goes “too far” once you’re on the table.

Facelifts can also be expensive. Between the operating room rental, anesthesia, the physician’s fee and other associated costs, people can pay between eight and fifteen thousand dollars. This isn’t for a high-end celebrity plastic surgeon, simply a reputable practice—and while you may find cheaper rates at some medical practices, you really shouldn’t go to a discount doctor when having work done on your face.

Needless to say, for most people, that’s a lot of money to spend on an elective procedure. But what’s surprising is that even some famous A-listers are skipping facelifts, turning instead to the rare charentais cantaloupe, found in a remote region in the south of France, to help preserve their perfect skin.

Here’s the second surprise: The ingredient is not only affordable, it’s part of a great skincare system that’s available to women everywhere.

The Youth Molecule
The secret is actually a powerful super-antioxidant calledsuperoxide dismutase or SOD. SOD has been referred to as a “youth molecule” for its miraculous age-defying properties, and is believed to be one of the most powerful antioxidants known to science.

The use of SOD as an anti-aging agent was pioneered by one of Europe’s premier skin doctors, Jean Louis Sebaugh. Dr. Sebaugh noticed that melons containing SOD decayed at a much slower rate than melons that lacked the nutrient (see image).

With this in mind, Dr. Sebaugh tested SOD as part of a skin care regimen and was amazed by its ability to restore the appearance of youth and vitality. From those results he created a first-of-its-kind skincare regime using this rare melon extract and called itMeaningful Beauty.

Already popular among in-the-know stars and models, Meaningful Beauty’s new Advanced Anti-Aging System helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, adds radiance to your complexion, preserves skin’s youthful vibrancy, and protects it from environmental damage. It’s naturally enriched with SOD, as well as other powerful ingredients such as coenzyme Q10, lipoic acid, and restorative minerals.

The 5-Step System:
Step 1: Cleanse the skin
using a a gentle formula designed to remove makeup and skin impurities without stripping your skin of essential oils.

Step 2: Protect the skin with antioxidant day crme that has one of the most advanced sunscreens on the market.

Step 4: Revitalize the skin with the glowing serum, wrinkle smoothing capsules, and firming chest and neck crme, which are all formulated to improve firmness and even out skin tone.

Step 5: Purify the skin with the deep cleansing masque that replenishes and revives stressed-out skin by lifting away dead surface cells and skin-dulling impurities.

Perhaps the best thing about Meaningful Beauty New Advanced Anti Aging System is the price. The entire 5 step system consisting of 8 separate products for just $39.95 (plus shipping and handling). Gluten free oatmeal and dates cookie

Simply called "Food"

On this hot summery day at the country, I decided to make another of my cookie recipe. I don’t know if you are like me but sometimes I run out of ideas. What can I put in my cookies for a change, and trust me, if I repeat myself, my kid will let me know that they are fed up to eat the same thing.

It’s probably my fault, we never have left over the next day unless I rework it. Except for pizza (healthy of course)! 🙂

This morning, when I made this recipe, I was just all over the place and felt a bit disorganized. That’s why it took me a bit longer then usual to make. It was so hot and humid, with the oven on, it didn’t help. 🙂 But in the end, the scent of homemade cookies was a great reward.

It will give…

wear: Ear Cuffs are Having a Moment

thought i might suggest...

ear cuff trendRecently, it seems like ear cuffs, like most trends from the 1980s, are having a comeback moment. It’s hard to pinpoint when this trend started picking up steam, but I noticed it during the 2013 Met Gala. The theme was punk rock, and fashion icons like Sienna Miller, Rooney Mara, and Cara Delevingne were all seen with clip on earrings that covered the outer rim of their ears. For those weary of leaping head first into this trend, there is a wide range of ear cuff that start from delicate and simple to intricate, bejeweled, and studded. You can ease your way into to this trend which looks like its here to stay for awhile.

Our new baby and the reason I am MIA these days!

Chaos and Cookies

IMG_4582It’s funny when you are young you look ahead and try to plan out your life detail by detail. I started planning out mine very early on, I was going to get married young and I was going to have kids young because all I wanted in life was to be a mom and wife. For real, that was really my goal and I was going to have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. That’s just how I saw it. Well, y’all know I have 2 kids, and to me that is perfect because sometimes there is a reality when you are young and dreaming that just hasn’t hit ya yet! I did get married young, I did have kids young and it’s been more than I could ever have dreamed of having but it wasn’t only because I wanted it that way, it’s because that was God‘s…

My Own Version Mac & Cheese

Simple but nice! Atta boys!

Spikes and Spices

So I went to McCormick and Schmicks last week and I really enjoyed their four cheese Macaroni and Cheese with Shrimp and Sausage. So, of course I had to try my own!

My version was pretty simple and quick. I just added cheese (enough to my own liking), a little milk, and a little olive oil to cooked pasta shells in a saucepan over low heat. Then, I seasoned it with Essence original flavoring and creole seasoning(for a slightly spicy taste), paprika, pepper, garlic, basil, and rosemary to my liking. Then, I experimented further by adding a very small amount of relish and olives. Finally, I added in the sausage and topped it off with Parmesan cheese and baked it about 10 minutes in the oven at about 450 for a little less saucy texture.

Music To My Ears (Eyes)

Fay Moore: I Want To Be a Writer

A writer begs to be read and appreciated for his craft, his art. Today I was lifted from a groveling place on the ground to Cloud Nine by author Shelton Keys Dunning.

A while ago, Troy P invited me to write the ending to a short story called “The Reunion.” Three writers preceded me in contributing to the story line. The author that started the tale was Shelton Keys Dunning.

To make a long story short, in the comments on my post “Writing Changes,” Dunning wrote words that made me giddy. I have to share them here:

I saw your potential in storycrafting when you finished my The Reunion on such a perfect endnote. I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m truly looking forward to purchasing everything you do!

If you are a writer, you know the weightiness and import of those words to my soul. It means every agonizing hour spent…
