Gluten free oatmeal and dates cookie

Simply called "Food"

On this hot summery day at the country, I decided to make another of my cookie recipe. I don’t know if you are like me but sometimes I run out of ideas. What can I put in my cookies for a change, and trust me, if I repeat myself, my kid will let me know that they are fed up to eat the same thing.

It’s probably my fault, we never have left over the next day unless I rework it. Except for pizza (healthy of course)! 🙂

This morning, when I made this recipe, I was just all over the place and felt a bit disorganized. That’s why it took me a bit longer then usual to make. It was so hot and humid, with the oven on, it didn’t help. 🙂 But in the end, the scent of homemade cookies was a great reward.

wear: Ear Cuffs are Having a Moment

thought i might suggest...

ear cuff trendRecently, it seems like ear cuffs, like most trends from the 1980s, are having a comeback moment. It’s hard to pinpoint when this trend started picking up steam, but I noticed it during the 2013 Met Gala. The theme was punk rock, and fashion icons like Sienna Miller, Rooney Mara, and Cara Delevingne were all seen with clip on earrings that covered the outer rim of their ears. For those weary of leaping head first into this trend, there is a wide range of ear cuff that start from delicate and simple to intricate, bejeweled, and studded. You can ease your way into to this trend which looks like its here to stay for awhile.

Chaos and Cookies

IMG_4582It’s funny when you are young you look ahead and try to plan out your life detail by detail. I started planning out mine very early on, I was going to get married young and I was going to have kids young because all I wanted in life was to be a mom and wife. For real, that was really my goal and I was going to have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. That’s just how I saw it. Well, y’all know I have 2 kids, and to me that is perfect because sometimes there is a reality when you are young and dreaming that just hasn’t hit ya yet! I did get married young, I did have kids young and it’s been more than I could ever have dreamed of having but it wasn’t only because I wanted it that way, it’s because that was God‘s…

My Own Version Mac & Cheese

Simple but nice! Atta boys!

Spikes and Spices

image

So I went to McCormick and Schmicks last week and I really enjoyed their four cheese Macaroni and Cheese with Shrimp and Sausage. So, of course I had to try my own!

My version was pretty simple and quick. I just added cheese (enough to my own liking), a little milk, and a little olive oil to cooked pasta shells in a saucepan over low heat. Then, I seasoned it with Essence original flavoring and creole seasoning(for a slightly spicy taste), paprika, pepper, garlic, basil, and rosemary to my liking. Then, I experimented further by adding a very small amount of relish and olives. Finally, I added in the sausage and topped it off with Parmesan cheese and baked it about 10 minutes in the oven at about 450 for a little less saucy texture.

Fay Moore: I Want To Be a Writer

A writer begs to be read and appreciated for his craft, his art. Today I was lifted from a groveling place on the ground to Cloud Nine by author Shelton Keys Dunning.

A while ago, Troy P invited me to write the ending to a short story called “The Reunion.” Three writers preceded me in contributing to the story line. The author that started the tale was Shelton Keys Dunning.

To make a long story short, in the comments on my post “Writing Changes,” Dunning wrote words that made me giddy. I have to share them here:

I saw your potential in storycrafting when you finished my The Reunion on such a perfect endnote. I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m truly looking forward to purchasing everything you do!

If you are a writer, you know the weightiness and import of those words to my soul. It means every agonizing hour spent…
